🕯️ Welcome to Balehook

Vita Extra ConspectumA Life Beyond Sight

Hidden in the folds of West Devon’s moorland mist, just east of Mary Tavy, lies a village absent from maps and memories alike. This is Balehook — a hamlet built in silence, maintained in secrecy, and remembered only by those who were never meant to return.

Founded in the 1860s by unseen hands within StormCroft House, Balehook was never meant to grow. It began as a single farmhouse beside a weathered granite cross, meant to house those quietly relocated from StormCroft’s core. They were not prisoners. Nor were they free. They were watched, studied, and — in time — left to live in peace.

This site holds their stories. Some are archival. Some are oral. Some are neither.
